About C M Osterhout

C M Osterhout (aka Candace) is a writer and artist living in Sunnyside, NY. She has her Fiction MFA from Brooklyn College and her BA in English from Vassar.

Originally from Oklahoma, she moved away after undergrad and fell in love with NYC while working at the New-York Historical Society. She still holds her time in Oklahoma dear, especially the summers she spent as a creative writing student at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, where she first found her home in the arts.

Her fiction is exploratory and approachable, depicting unfamiliar worlds grounded by the complex and diverse characters traversing them. She aims above all else to tell compelling stories that pushes boundaries—with no easily-defined genre or subject matter classification. She is unbound by convention and often writes across many forms at once. Her audience is anyone seeking new or experimental fiction.

Candace was formerly represented by Maria Bell at Sterling Lord Literistic before an amicable parting of ways.

She is now seeking representation for a new novel and is at work on another.
